Cookie and Bruce; we started hiking a while back to enjoy this amazing part of the world, get in shape, spend time together and well, walk the dog.

After many months of hiking Vancouver Island and reaching 1609 km (1000 miles) of distance, and almost 78 km of elevation change we decided to jot down a few of our meanderings (we hit 1500 miles, 2414 km in July 2024!).

Welcome to "Directionally Correct". We don’t presume to be guides or experts but we’re having a lot of fun and we want to remember some of our hikes.

We're hoping to eventually update and add various routes as we go so please click on the menus above and have fun exploring.  We do!

Here’s to many directionally correct adventures ahead.

Our "blog" is really more of a scrapbook for us so we can look back and remember what we've been up to. It ranges from hikes to sunsets to everyday activities.

You're welcome to follow along.

All distances and elevations are taken from GaiaGPS.com when we draw our routes.

We acknowledge the welcome and graciousness of many Indigenous peoples on whose land we enjoy our outdoor pursuits. This includes, but is not limited to the LÉ™k̓ʷəŋən (Kosapsum and Songhees), W̱SÁNEĆ (Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout, Tseycum), T'Sou-ke, Scia'new, Coast Salish, Pacheedaht, Nuu-chah-nulth, Quw'ustun, Malahat, Stz'uminus, Hupacasath and Tsehaht peoples.
