Distance update Jan 2026: 3378 km, 162,000 m of elevation

We started hiking a while back to enjoy this amazing part of the world, get in shape, spend time together and well, walk the dog.

After many months of hiking on Vancouver Island and reaching 1609 km (1000 miles) of distance, and almost 78 km of elevation change we decided to jot down a few of our meanderings (we hit 1500 miles, 2414 km in July 2024).

More for our memories than anything, we hope you enjoy the "Hiking" portion of Directionally Correct...as incomplete as it may be.

All distances and elevations are taken from GaiaGPS.com when we draw our routes.

We acknowledge the welcome and graciousness of many Indigenous peoples on whose land we enjoy our outdoor pursuits. This includes, but is not limited to the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Kosapsum and Songhees), W̱SÁNEĆ (Pauquachin, Tsartlip, Tsawout, Tseycum), T'Sou-ke, Scia'new, Coast Salish, Pacheedaht, Nuu-chah-nulth, Quw'ustun, Malahat, Stz'uminus, Hupacasath and Tsehaht peoples.
